Indra to deliver advanced ground surveillance technology at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

MADRID, May 13, 2025 — Indra has been awarded a new contract by DSNA, France’s air navigation service provider, to upgrade and enhance its InNOVA ground surveillance system at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). The modernization project will significantly improve air traffic control efficiency, safety and sustainability at one of Europe’s busiest and most complex airports.

With more than 70 million passengers in 2024, four parallel runways and three control towers, Charles de Gaulle is among the world’s few airports capable of handling four simultaneous , aircraft movements. The new enhancements will make CDG the largest European airport to implement the advanced capabilities outlined in the EU’s Common Project 1 (CP1) regulation, an initiative aimed at boosting performance and sustainability across the European air traffic network.

“We’re proud to continue our close partnership with DSNA and contribute to the modernization of one of Europe’s leading aviation hubs,” said Andrew Fiamingo, Managing Director of Indra Norway. “This project underscores Indra’s commitment to advancing air traffic management technology and supporting the aviation sector’s ongoing growth through safe and efficient operations.”

Indra’s work will include a series of upgrades to its InNOVA Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System, which enables controllers to manage complex ground operations in real time. The improvements will introduce electronic flight strips, which allow more efficient flight data management and an expanded set of automatic safety alerts to support controllers in preventing ground conflicts.

Among these features are:

  • Conformance Monitoring Alerts for Controllers: Warns controllers if an aircraft or vehicle deviates from its assigned clearance.
  • Conflicting ATC Clearances: Notifies controllers when conflicting instructions are issued that could cause intersecting movement paths.

The system will also introduce optimized routing functionality, improving taxi flow, reducing fuel burn and CO₂ emissions, and supporting on-time performance.

These enhancements represent a key step in aligning CDG’s operations with CP1’s European modernization framework, which mandates advanced technologies for 19 major airports to improve safety, capacity and environmental efficiency.

DSNA has relied on Indra’s InNOVA ground surveillance technology since 1997, a system trusted by major airports worldwide, including London Heathrow, Zürich, Incheon and Toronto Pearson.
